Arts & Sciences

A big event with many participants means a wealth of knowledge deep and wide. Thanks to this Double Wars offer a full schedule of classes and workshops within the Arts and Sciences (A&S). That's a lot of oportunities to geek out and meet others sharing your specific interests.

A&S classes can be found in the Master schedule as they are published.

A&S activities

Arts & Science classes will be held throughout the week with some classes being just an hour, others taking longer time and some will be held over several days.

Classes can be in the A&S tent that is located on the battlefield near the main building. In the A&S tent there are picnic tables that can also be moved outside depending on the teachers preference and weather.

Classes can also be held in the teacher’s own camp or indoors in the tavern.

There is no formal last day to register a class but we would appreciate it if you do so before April 20th so that we can put together a schedule and give all teachers and participants a chance to plan.

Here you will later be able to find the A&S schedule!

Sign up lists for classes with a limited number of participants will be posted in the Troll tent the evening before the class.

Guest Teacher

We are happy to welcome Morgan Donner to Double Wars as this year’s guest teacher. She will be teaching several classes throughout the week on a variety of subjects.

If you have any requests please let the A&S coordinator Isabetta del Verde know so she can pass the request on to Morgan.

If you want to know more about all of her interest areas check out her youtube channel.

Blank Scroll Competition

Each year we try to help the Signets of the Kingdom by providing an opportunity for scribes to produce blank scrolls for the use of the Kingdom, or Principalities.

The competition will take place in the tavern during the Laurel Sponsored Display. Everyone is encouraged to vote on the entries.

The blank scroll competition has the following rules:

  • Write your name (SCA or mundane), shire and e-mail (optional) on the back.
  • Bring your blank scrolls to the display 15 minutes before the competition starts or give it to Isabetta del Verde on site before noon on Wednesday!
  • If you are not attending the event – you can ask someone to bring your scroll(s) or send them by mail (see instructions below the rules).
  • The scroll must be blank and not be designated for a certain person. It may contain symbols of orders or awards.
  • The scrolls will, after the competition, be given to either Their Majesties of
Drachenwald or Their Highnesses of Nordmark, or their Signet Scribes. The scribe who made the blank scroll decides where the scroll goes.
  • If you have a short description of the scroll (like from where you got the inspiration, what century it is etc.) it is appreciated!
  • Sign your scroll on the back and make sure to leave information to the person running the competition (Isabetta del Verde) to which Crown or Coronet you wish to donate the scroll.

Not going to Double Wars but still want to participate?

Send your scroll with a friend or contact Isabetta for a post address.

Laurel Sponsored A&S Display

During Wednesday afternoon the Laurel Sponsored A&S Display takes center stage again, and artisans from the Kingdom have the opportunity to show their art, and talk about it in a non-competitive environment.

Everyone is encouraged to visit the display, and if you are able please bring tokens to leave with all the artisans, or your favorites.

The best sort of display shows how a thing is made, and explains the steps, and maybe provides an opportunity for visitors to try it themselves.

The Laurel Sponsored A&S Display will be coordinated by Meisterinne Renike Tucher.

If you have questions about the activities, please reach out to the coordinators in charge. You can find their contact information on the autocrat page.
