SITE RULES

Children and Youth

To make it safe and a good experience for all participants at DW there are a few ground rules for children and youths and their parents that you as a parent must be aware of:

  • Minors may not attend Double Wars alone. A responsible adult must accompany all minors (under the age of 18 years) to the DW site. This must be a parent or a designated guardian with parental permission.
  • You, as parent/guardian, have full responsibility for your child’s/children's behaviour at all times.
  • If you leave camp without your child/youth, or you plan on partying hard all night, make sure you have appointed another adult as temporary guardian. Make sure they can get in touch with you (in case of emergencies).
  • Camp grounds - Please inform your child that all pavilions and sun roofs in camp are private property and that includes the nearest vicinity, the area just around and outside tents. Ask permission to visit before barging in to someone's camp uninvited. Please teach your child not to pull or hit the ropes of pavilions and sunroofs, and talk about fire safety with them to prevent any accidents.
  • Activities for children is not a babysitting service – children under 7 yrs. should be accompanied by an adult and children who do not speak English/Swedish NEED someone who can translate with them.
  • Always leave your location and/or mobile number to the adult in charge of the activity if you have to leave.
  • If your child plays on their own, or has been left at a scheduled activity, be sure they know where to find you if needed.
  • The event staff strongly recommend that all young (under the age of 16) participants go to bed at a decent hour (the younger the earlier of course!) or keep out of party-areas where a lot of alcohol flourish in the encampment at night, to prevent the young (kids and youth) to encounter drunk adults or in other ways encounter behaviour impacted by alcohol and to let adults be adults and able to relax more in the late hours of night
  • To make the feeling of past times as good as possible we urge you to think about your child´s equipment for daily use; if they have a water bottle – make a textile bag for it so that the plastic does not show. Make sure plastic bags for fruit, candy, snacks or other things are covered in period material or kept in a period container. Do NOT leave modern plastic toys lying around the site and try and leave the baby carriage in the car, if possible!
  • If you have small children please make sure to have plastic bags with you to seal stinky diapers in before throwing them in the regular trash. Even better – go to the big trash containers and throw it directly there.

Dangerous Grounds

  • Please don’t leave younger children unattended around the lake (Gyllebosjön) area just south of the period encampment.
  • The steep way through the woods east of the period encampment is also a bit of a risk, especially in wet weather.

Youth Boffer

  • Only fight in the designated list or out of the way from the encampments. It is NOT allowed for children/youth to run around and swing their weapons about in camp, as to prevent accidents, and injuries to others who do not want to participate in the boffer games – if you enter the list- you join the game.
  • Do NOT hit with full force, control your blow!
  • Never hit above the shoulders or on sensitive areas.
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for checking that the boffer weapons are safe for play
  • Boffer rose tournament TBA
